KEIN mobile

The production of KEIN.TV is based on KEIN mobile, a white van equipped with audio and video editing units, mixers, soundsystem, two linux servers, antennas and access points for wireless networking and a satellite dish for a bi-directional high bandwith internet connection which can be established within a couple of minutes.

"KEIN.TV" sets up ad-hoc networking for multiple purposes ranging from a semi-professional mobile broadcasting unit to a roaming online-library; from a wireless discotheque to an open-source job-market; from internet workshops on wheels to audio-visual event-coverage in real-time or near on real-time.

From 2002 to 2007 the van was touring to conferences, workshops, museums, festivals and off-road events all across Europe: Originally developed in the framework of the database project "everyone is an expert" the equipment was first tested at the occasion of the first European Social Forum, 2002 in Florence. There have been several test runs in Spain, Switzerland, Romania, Italy and all across europe in the course of summer 2003. Until today KEIN mobile has been involved among countless smaller or rather informal projects in the following events:

2003 "MEDIA_SPACE INVADERS - art and politics of e-democracy" in Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA), Barcelona -- a mobile-workshop including talks, panels, projections and actions that was hold in barcelona beetween the 14th and 24th of may 2003. The project travelled beetween the media_space (platoniq.net) and public spaces (Goethe Institut, MACBA museum, the Centre of Contemporary Culture) and the streets of Raval and Poblenou "barrios", two hot spots of urbanistic, cultural and political debates in Barcelona.
